What material are your shower trays made of?
Every shower tray (also called a shower base or pan) is made from solid surface, a 24 mm mineral composite. The colour runs through the entire thickness of the material, the tray is built as one seamless piece, and it is 100% waterproof. Because the surface is the same material all the way down, it is fully repairable — light scratches or dull spots can be sanded out rather than replaced. We make every tray in our own workshop in the Netherlands.
What is the difference between solid surface and mineral cast?
The two are often confused, so it's worth being clear. Solid surface is colour-through: the colour and texture run through the whole material, which is why it can be repaired and refinished. Mineral cast has a gelcoat-coated surface — a thin coloured layer over a different core. That coating looks good when new, but once it wears, scratches or chips, the core underneath becomes visible and it cannot be sanded back. Our trays are solid surface, not mineral cast.
Can you make a shower tray to my exact dimensions?
Yes — that's the core of what we do. We build trays to measure from 70×70 up to 320×150 cm, and standard sizes are available too. Cut-outs are possible for walls, pillars or sloped ceilings, so the tray fits the room rather than the room being adapted to the tray. The fall (slope toward the drain) is built in at the factory and calculated for your specific layout.
What sizes and special shapes are possible?
Beyond rectangular and square, we can produce non-standard outlines and notches to work around existing fittings. If you send us your measurements and a sketch of the space, we translate it into a production drawing. For made-to-measure orders we always send that drawing for your approval before production starts, so there are no surprises.
Where can the drain go?
You choose the drain configuration. A point drain can sit in the centre, on the left or on the right, or you can opt for a linear channel drain along one side. The drain cover measures 140×140 mm and is colour-matched to the tray, so it blends in rather than standing out.
How slip-resistant is the surface?
The entire tray has a matte microtexture that provides grip when the floor is wet, and the edge is softly rounded (R2) so there are no sharp lines underfoot. The texture is part of the solid material, not an added coating, so it keeps its slip resistance over the life of the tray.
How is the tray installed?
It arrives as a single seamless piece with the fall and drain opening already in place, so any competent tiler or bathroom fitter can install it. There's no need to build up a separate sloping screed for drainage. We supply clear dimensions and the drain position with every order.
Can the shower tray be level with the floor (walk-in)?
Yes. The tray can be set on top of the screed for a low step, or recessed into the floor for a flush, threshold-free walk-in entry. A level-access installation is the most accessible option — easy to step into and easy to clean — and works well in both wet rooms and standard bathrooms.
Which colours can I choose, and do you offer custom NCS colours?
There are 7 standard colours, plus more than 60 custom colours from the NCS range. You can order up to 3 free colour samples to compare shades against your tiles, walls and lighting before deciding. The drain cover is matched to your chosen colour for a seamless finish.
What happens if the tray gets scratched or damaged?
Because solid surface is colour-through and repairable, most everyday marks, scratches and dull patches can be sanded and refinished back to the original look — no coating to peel and no need to replace the whole tray. This repairability is one of the main reasons solid surface lasts so well in daily use.
How accessible is a Marlan shower tray for limited mobility?
A recessed, level-access installation removes the step into the shower, which makes it suitable for walk-in and wet-room layouts and for users with reduced mobility. Combined with the slip-resistant surface and the rounded edge, it's a practical choice for accessible and future-proof bathrooms.
How does ordering and payment work?
We don't take online payment. After you place a request, we send an order confirmation together with a payment request, with a deposit of at most 50%. For made-to-measure trays, we first send a production drawing for your approval — production only begins once you've confirmed it's correct.

Standard sizes are €684–€1,018 incl. VAT. Made-to-measure trays start from €695 incl. VAT, plus shipping. Lead time is approximately 6 weeks, and we deliver across Europe.
